MEET-IN-HEALTH PROJECT
Co-funded by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, Meet-in-Health provides a methodology and tools to aggregate innovative public demand in the healthcare sector for diagnosis, prognosis and choice of treatment.
The primary purpose of this project was to create a methodology and tools to aggregate innovative public demand in the healthcare sector, the implementation of which will provide greater opportunities for our companies to participate in public procurement tenders for innovative technology. Public supply and demand was analysed, identifying the technologies on the market and in the pipeline in Biotecyl’s companies which can respond to the needs that have been identified.
Based on the map of supply/demand, the project concluded with a forum for dialogue and collaboration between Biotecyl, the Public Administration and a pool of clinical professionals from the leading hospitals in the region to explore opportunities in Innovative Public Procurement. With 40 participants, and a large presence from the Public Administration, the Forum was chaired by the Minister of Health, Dr Antonio María Sáez Aguado, who expressed his support for the initiative as well as his confidence in Innovative Public Procurement as an instrument to promote demand-based innovation in healthcare.
IRIS PROJECT
The primary objective of this project is to bring industry closer to the healthcare sector to promote and reinforce the transfer of knowledge and the research results from the care centres to the business market.
This project aims to obtain a shared action plan to foster healthcare innovation with a collaborative focus as part of transnational cooperation. This will help establish a network that encourages exchanging good practices, testing and implementing the innovation management model, allowing the model to be transferred to other centres and fostering the companies’ participation in European fields of innovation.
C4E-BIOTECYL INTERCLUSTER
This project, co-funded by the General Directorate of Industry, involved the design and implementation of an innovation office within the field of biomedicine.
The primary objective of the project was to develop a tool that could help the companies and research centres belonging to both Innovative Entrepreneurial Groups become aware of announcements for R+D+I funding opportunities in the field of biomedicine, as well as make it easier for members to search and possibly form consortia by using the websites of both clusters.
In this way, a single point of contact was created to assess project development, aiming to promote development and participation in different calls for tenders as well as to increase the companies’ competitive standing in the field of biomedicine. The aim was to foster collaboration between different types of entities to undertake projects, highlighting the cooperative spirit of this project. The primary challenge was to promote collaboration between companies, both within the same cluster as well as within the intercluster, along with other entities such as Universities and Research Centres..
PROMOTING THE ULE ANIMAL HOUSING FACILITIES
The primary purpose of this project, co-funded by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, was to draft a feasibility study regarding the launch of the High Biosecurity Animal Housing Facility to improve the competitive standing of the companies in the healthcare Sector in Castilla y León.
This Animal Housing Facility is intended to keep large domestic and farm animals (mainly, sheep, cattle and swine), which may be subjected to experimental conditions that involve the use of pathogens included in Group 2 and Group 3 of the Risk Classification of Biological Agents.
Establishing the Animal Housing Facility will improve the competitive standing of the companies in Biotecyl as well as the companies in the sector that need to conduct studies both in animal and human health..
DESIGNING THE BIOTECYL MEMBERS’ CAPACITIES MAP
The primary purpose of this study was to provide the elements necessary to prepare the Cluster’s new R+D+I activities and those of its companies and institutions. This initiative allows collaborative projects to be developed both as part of the Cluster as well as with potential clients and highly specialised technology providers, to enhance the added value of the products and services of Biotecyl’s members.
Developing this project has had a strong impact on the two types of actors that form part of our Association (companies and institutions which provide knowledge and/or technology) and therefore in the horizontal activities that we carry out in order to achieve our strategic challenges. Creating the map of existing knowledge and technology in the Cluster has allowed for collaborative R+D+I projects to be implemented with our members participating in national and European programmes. This project has been co-funded by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism..
EXCELLENCE, INTERNATIONALISATION AND TALENT PROJECT
The Regional Ministry of the Economy and the Treasury of the Government of Castilla y León has awarded grants that add up to nearly 450,000 Euros to ten clusters that are registered in the Registry of Innovative Business Groups of Castilla y León, including Biotecyl. This funding aims to accelerate their full potential, both by means of enhancing professional training, as well as by reinforcing skills to attract human capital that provides added value, in line with the Autonomous Community’s Plan to Retain, Attract and Bring Back Talent.
- Excellence: improvement and excellence initiatives in management will be supported by implementing quality labelling and benchmarking promoted by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis.
- Retaining, developing and bringing back talent: measures will be funded to identify specialised employment opportunities in the respective sectors, incentivise recruiting professionals who contribute to the productive fabric in Castilla and León and further understand the factors that prevent the flight of qualified personnel from the Community.
With these initiatives, the programme aims for Innovative Company Groups to be capable of more effectively responding to the present and future needs of the businesses in the autonomous community and contributing to fielding the best human resources for them.
